Today in the gospel, we continue reading from Matthew 7 and Jesus teaches:
“Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them
will be like a wise man who built his house on rock.
The rain fell, the floods came,
and the winds blew and buffeted the house.
But it did not collapse; it had been set solidly on rock.
And everyone who listens to these words of mine
but does not act on them
will be like a fool who built his house on sand.
The rain fell, the floods came,
and the winds blew and buffeted the house.
And it collapsed and was completely ruined.”
When we build the “house” of our lives on the “rock” of God’s love, we can be more sure that we will be safe and strong. Patrick and Katie are learning about how to be a part of the “rock” of God’s Church. By helping their parish family and serving others, they are helping to build a “house” that will never blow away!
Today, go outside with Mom and Dad and look at the “foundation” of your house. What does it look like? What is it made of?
How is your house built to keep your family safe and strong?
Spend a few minutes reading Matthew 7 in your bible today and then go be a saint-in-the-making!
