In this Sunday’s gospel from Luke 10, Jesus appointed seventy two of his followers and sent them out to spread the gospel message.
The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few;
so ask the master of the harvest
to send out laborers for his harvest.
Go on your way;
behold, I am sending you like lambs among wolves.
Jesus told them not to take any supplies with them. He warned them that in some places, they would not be welcomed. Their job was to teach others about God’s love and to trust in the goodness of God’s plan.
This gospel passage reminds us that as sons and daughters of God, it’s also our job to spread the “Good News”. Sometimes, this is very hard. Our friends may not believe what we teach them or they may even be mean to us. If this happens, we should still be kind and loving to them, but we should also remember them in our prayers.
How can you be a “laborer” in the harvest for God?
Spend a few minutes reading Luke 10 in your bible today and then go be a laborer in the harvest today!
